Tony Yates, SuperOffice DevNet & SDK Dude

Tony Yates (the DevNet dude) has worked at SuperOffice DevNet since Jan 2006. His roles include diplomat, ambassador, analyst, writer, developer, public speaker and visionary all at the same time; he is someone who displays a blend of curiosity, creativity, passion, optimism and persistence. He is passionate about making a difference and seeing the impact his work has on others. His responsibiltities include: Account Engagement - giving community members day-to-day assistance with their technical and business needs, Building an Ecosystem - as we evolve, we want to gradually inculcate an ecosystem that can be self-supporting, so that the answers to questions people have are in the public domain and putting good valuable developer technical notes out there through outlets like blogs and videos which can be more rapidly updated than the SDK, Internal Impact - playing a strategic role as an internal advocate for customers and partners trying to help get the SuperOffice strategy right.

Margrethe Halvorsen Romnes, SuperOffice DevNet, COM/Database SDK

Margrethe Halvorsen started working for support in SuperOffice Norway in 1997. In 2000 she started up International support, giving support to our subsidiaries and partners in countries without a link to a SuperOffice subsidiary. When Christian finally got his baby up and running, she started making the COM api documentation for the release of CRM 5. She's now extremely happy that Christian has automated more of the documetation and thereby retiering the old html files that needed manual updates.

    Christian Mogensen, SDK Typesetter

Soon after starting as a product developer in R&D, Christian took on enhancement of the nascent SuperOffice SDK, adding COM functions to the system and retiring the old DDE functions. About a year after the SDK shipped, someone asked about documentation for it. The traveling SDK road-show visited many countries in Europe, ensuring that Christian’s liquor cabinet (even to this day) is well stocked. After being told that explaining the SDK to each developer in person is not so efficient, he has developed documentation tools for the C++, COM and .net APIs that he struggles to keep in working order. He will occasionally fix bugs or critique a design sketch, but these days most of his time is spent uploading cat pictures to DevNet.

Customers have needs that reach beyond simple customization. In many cases, a number of third-party modules fill this gap and are able to satisfy particular needs. There are, however, times when customers prefer to create their own solutions by building a custom module or integration that fulfills their requirements.

To support this group of customers, SuperOffice has Expander, a platform from which customers can piece together their vision of a harmonious user experience. SuperOffice Expander encompasses all SuperOffice Software Development Kits (SDK) and documentation. The various Expander components provide partners and customers with the tools needed to fulfill those requirements, including

    -Client Software Development Kit (SDK)
    -Server Software Development Kit (SDK)
    -Database Reference and Data Model

SuperOffice Developer Network (DevNet) is the community center that supports customers and partners using the SuperOffice Expander Toolkit. Members of DevNet get access to

    -Expander Toolkit
    -Product and solution information
    -White Papers and Solution Briefs
-Tutorials, Example Code and Software Downloads
-Technical information about Third Party modules
-News and articles aimed at SuperOffice developers
-User-driven wiki-based project site that host over 80,000 lines of sample code and utilities.
    -Developer and Technical forums
    -Community activities and events
-Training and developer certification and technical resources

DevNet provides additional services for Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and System Integrator (SI) partners, such as ensuring their success in business development and aiding to bring modules and add-ons to market. DevNet provides

    -Reference case studies and demonstrations
-Task Force to guide partners as they navigate the API’s.
-Consultant services to participate in seminars, customer meetings and other pre-sale activities
